Scotland have fallen just short in their first ever Women's World Cup match, losing to original tournament hosts Bangladesh by 16 runs today in Sharjah.
Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana won the toss and chose to bat first. Murshida Khatun fell in the powerplay having scored 12 of her team's 26 runs to that point, before a 42 run partnership between Shathi Rani and Sobhana Mostary.
That partnership ended when Rani was out for 29 in the 12th over. Incoming batter Taj Nehar played a dot ball but was run out in the next over after her partner sent her back after she tried to take a quick single.
Mostary reached 36 before she was the fourth wicket to fall, with Bangladesh then adding 33 in the final five overs amongst the loss of three more wickets to take their total to 119-7. Saskia Horley was the pick of the Scottish bowlers with 3-13.

Scotland are next in action on Sunday when they take on the West Indies, whilst Bangladesh take on England on Saturday.
