Before this weekend Serbia's women had lost all 13 of the T20Is they had played since their first back in 2022. They went a long way to righting that record with a 4-0 series sweep of the touring Bulgaria side at the Lisicji Jarak Cricket Ground in the Serbian capital of Belgrade.
Serbia batted first in the first game yesterday and scored 147-7, Ana Mesarovic top scoring with 32. She then showed her all-round ability by taking 3-7 to bowl the visitors out for 48 and secure a 99 run win for her side.
She starred again in the afternoon game, scoring an unbeaten 80 in Serbia's total of 206-2. Only captain Detelina Ruynekova reached double figures in the Bulgarian reply, contributing 21 to their toal of 68, the home side winning by 138 runs.
Mesarovic was rested for today's final two matches, but Serbia showed that they weren't a one-woman team by restricting Bulgaria to 77-8 in the morning game with Nadja Nojic and Tamara Trajikovic both taking three wickets. Serbia chased their target in 11.1 overs to win by five wickets.
Sladjana Matijevic took 4-16 in the fourth and final game this afternoon as Bulgaria were bowled out for 61. Serbia lost Milica Perisic for a first ball duck in the first over of their run chase but were otherwise untroubled, chasing their target in 7.4 overs to win by nine wickets and secure a 4-0 series win
