A fine all-round team performance saw Ireland Women beat Bangladesh by 47 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series in Sylhet.

It completes a remarkable turnaround for Ed Joyce's side who had been totally outplayed in the ODI series last week, whitewashed 3-0 by the hosts.

Their ability to 'shake it off' was once again very much to the fore, clearly much happier in the T20 format where they have enjoyed most of the success in recent times. The challenge will be to replicate this in the longer format ahead of the World Cup qualifiers next year.

Batting first, Ireland posted 134 for 5 with Laura Delany hitting four boundaries in a top score of 35 from just 25 balls. Orla Prendergast made 32 - including the only six of the game, while Amy Hunter also made a run-a-ball 23 (4 fours).

Ireland's bowlers proved up to defending the total, helped by a much  improved fielding effort that saw two run outs and some stunning catches held.

Orla Prendergast struck two early blows on her way to 3-13, while wickets for Arlene Kelly and Alana Dalzell reduced Bangladesh to 22 for 4 in the powerplay.

Sharmin Akhter (38) and Shorna Akter (22) led a recovery to 70 for 4, but any hopes of a late charge were extinguished by Laura Delany's double strike as they lost their last six wickets for just 17.

"Definitely a great game and a great team performance," said Player of the Match Orla Prendergast at the post-match presentation.

"Very pleasing to put that on after a great game the last day to back it up again was very exciting.

"I think today was probably a more complete team performance with a very good batting display that had lots of players contributing. Our bowling and fielding after a tough day last time, to come out with the intent and positivity that we did was certainly very pleasing.

"We definitely took a lot from the last T20I's,learned a lot about their players and where they liked to hit. We had some good chats and came up with clear plans."

Ireland will have the chance for a whitewash of their own in the final match on Monday, with the match getting underway at 4am (UK/Ireland).
