Raymond Mitchell was confirmed as the new Chairman of the NWCU at the AGM, taking over at the helm from Brian Dougherty, who stepped down after seven years.

Mitchell was a popular choice among the NW Clubs and is keen to make his mark in the new role.

"It was a privilege and an honour to become the Chairman of the North West Cricket Union," the former Donemana, Killymallaght and Newbuildings stalwart began.

"I know it will be a hard act to follow as our past Chairman, who was well respected. I admired Brian in his role and hope to follow in his footsteps and chair the union which I feel is getting stronger by the year.

"It will be a new experience for me which I will endeavour to do to the best of my ability. I aim to support the current CEO and committees to the very best of my ability and support all the North West teams going forward

"Visiting each ground is my primary aim and liaising with everyone during the season. Also, fulfilling my duties at local regional and international level. Keeping the rise in youth, women's, and mens cricket has always been my priority and its great to see this increasing each year.

"Hopefully the sun shines on us this summer and all the clubs have a great season."

John Semple was also confirmed as the new President, taking over the reins from Connie McAllister who had held the post for ten years.

Glendermott's John Bratton was also voted onto the Board, a special honour for the affable JB in the Rectory club's 100th year, and 99th season of the Derry Midweek League.

There were a number of resolutions voted on, with the main ones seeing the continuation of 50-over replays rather than T20's, the retention of the points system - albeit with an increase to 16, and separate T20 competitions for Premiership and Championship sides. A NW U19 side will also compete in the T20 second tier event.

Clubs with three players on representative duty can also request a fixture postponement, while there are plans for NW U19 pathway players to be allowed to go out on loan to secure first team cricket at another club.
