Phoenix beat Malahide by 7 wickets
Phoenix Park, 14 May.
Malahide 121-6 (20 overs; Anna Kerrison 31, Gemma Sargent 29*; Darcey Dalwood 3-18)
Phoenix 123-3 (17.4 overs; Alice Tector 48*, Siúin Woods 20)
Phoenix eased to a seven-wicket victory over Malahide after restricting the visitors to a below-par total before completing a composed chase. Malahide suffered an immediate setback when overseas player Meg Thompson was bowled by Alice Tector in the opening over, a blow from which the innings never fully recovered. Anna Kerrison top-scored with 31 while Gemma Sargent added an unbeaten 29, but Phoenix kept control throughout as Malahide stuttered to 121 for 6 from their 20 overs. Darcey Dalwood was the standout bowler with impressive figures of 3 for 18. Phoenix’s reply was anchored superbly by Irish international Tector, whose unbeaten 48 guided her side home with more than two overs to spare. She built the chase steadily, sharing useful 30-run partnerships with Siúin Woods, Georgina Dempsey and Nebedha Saravanarajan. Woods contributed 20 in a calm and measured pursuit. Arlene Kelly, Kerrison and Sargent each picked up a wicket, but Phoenix were rarely troubled.
The Hills lost to Leinster by 69 runs.
The Vineyard, 14 May.
Leinster 142-2 (20 overs; Rebecca Rolfe 60*, Alex Sheedy 42, Ava Canning 17*; Vanesa Scollard 1-27)
The Hills 73 (16.1 overs; Lara McBride 19; Aisling O'Kelly 3-13, Orla Bagnall 2-4, Katie Dagostino 2-5)
Leinster produced a dominant all-round display to defeat The Hills by 69 runs after controlling the match from the outset. Leinster’s innings was built around an excellent opening partnership of 97 between Rebecca Rolfe and Australian teenager Alex Sheedy. Former Irish international Rolfe anchored the innings superbly with an unbeaten 60 from 56 balls, striking three fours and rotating the strike cleverly throughout. Sheedy provided strong support with 42 from 48 deliveries, hitting two boundaries as the pair laid the perfect foundation for a competitive total. Late acceleration came from Ava Canning, whose unbeaten 17 included the only six of the innings, helping Leinster close on 142 for 2 from their 20 overs. Vanesa Scollard claimed the only wicket to fall. The Hills never got going in reply and were dismissed for just 73 in 16.1 overs. Lara McBride top-scored with 19, but Leinster’s bowlers shared the wickets impressively. Aisling O’Kelly led the attack with 3 for 13, while Orla Bagnall and Katie Dagostino both claimed two wickets in a convincing victory.
Balbriggan beat Rush by 65 runs.
Jack Harper Ground, 14 May.
Balbriggan 182-7 (20 overs; Lara Maritz 98*, Julia Hoal 32, Madison Landsman 23; Ellie McGee 3-23, Rebecca Lowe 2-20)
Rush 117-6 (20 overs; Ellie McGee 31; Indie Harper 2-12, Madison Landsman 2-21)
Balbriggan powered to a convincing 65-run victory over Rush thanks to a magnificent unbeaten innings from Irish international Lara Maritz. Recently recalled to the Super Series squad, Maritz underlined her class with a breathtaking 98 not out from just 56 balls, falling narrowly short of a deserved century. Her superb knock featured 13 fours and three sixes and formed the backbone of Balbriggan’s imposing total of 182 for 7. South African overseas professional Julia Hoal provided early momentum with a rapid 32 from 17 deliveries, striking five boundaries, while Madison Landsman added an important 23. Rush skipper Ellie McGee impressed with the ball, taking 3 for 23, while Rebecca Lowe claimed two wickets. Rush never seriously threatened the target despite a lively 31 from McGee. Balbriggan’s bowlers maintained control throughout the chase, with Indie Harper taking 2 for 12 and Landsman capping a fine all-round display with figures of 2 for 21 as Rush closed on 117 for 6.
Merrion beat Clontarf by 17 runs.
Anglesea Road, 14 May.
Merrion 170-8 (20 overs; Leah Paul 80; Lucy Barry 2-24, Sinead Thomson 2-32)
Clontarf 153-1 (20 overs; Robyn Searle 82*, G Morrissey 37*, C Coulter Reilly 22)
Leah Paul (CricketEurope)
Merrion claimed a hard-fought 17-run victory over Clontarf in the Leinster Women’s Premiership despite an unbeaten century stand in reply from the visitors. The foundation for Merrion’s success was laid by Irish international Leah Paul, who produced a classy innings of 80 from just 52 balls. The left-hander dominated the Merrion total of 170 for 8 with a fluent knock featuring 11 boundaries, combining timing and placement to keep the scoreboard moving throughout the innings. Lucy Barry and Sinead Thomson each picked up two wickets for Clontarf but struggled to contain Paul’s attacking strokeplay. Clontarf’s chase was built around an excellent unbeaten 82 from overseas professional Robyn Searle, whose 63-ball innings included 10 fours. She shared an opening stand of 50 with Christina Coulter Reilly and then added 103 for the second wicket alongside Genevieve Morrissey, who made 37 not out. However, despite losing only one wicket, the required acceleration never arrived and Clontarf closed on 153 for 1.
Rush beat Phoenix by 9 wickets.
Kenure, 7 May.
Phoenix 126-8 (20 overs; A Tector 67*; M O'Donohoe 3-12, D Armstrong 2-20)
Rush 127-1 (14.5 overs; C Pedersen 63*, E McGee 32*)
Rush had little trouble beating Phoenix despite the best efforts of Irish international Alice Tector. In a dramatic start, Tector watched from the non-striker's end as Mabel O'Donohoe and Darcie Armstrong reduced the visitors to 10 for 6 in the third over. Alice though shepherded the lower order to 126 for 8, making an unbeaten 47-ball 67 (7 fours, 1 six), receiving excellent support from Sophoe McDonough, Elizabeth Walsh and Alanna Staunton. Rebecca Lowe's journey down from Lisburn was worth it as she hit four boundaries in her 19 to get the chase off to a fast start. Cate Pedersen then took centre stage as she hit eight boundaries in her 46-ball 63 not out, sharing an unbroken second wicket stand of 99 in 12 overs with Ellie McGee, who made a run-a-ball 32. Rush cruising to a nine-wicket win in the 15th over.
Clontarf lost to Pembroke by 1 run.
Castle Avenue, 7 May.

Clontarf 142-6 (20 overs; R Searle 50; A Beale 2-25)
There was a real thriller at Castle Avenue where Pembroke held their nerve to win a last- ball thriller by one run. Chasing 144, a half century from Robyn Searle, and 22 apiece took them to the brink of victory with three needed from the final two balls. Anna Beale however dismissed Barry, then ran out Sinead Thomson as she tried for the second run that would have tied the game. Earlier, Eimear Mullen (35), Sarah Forbes (28) and Clare Shillington (21) were all in the runs in a Pembroke total of 143 for 7 - Katie O'Toole (2-22) the pick of the Clontarf bowlers.

Malahide romped to a ten-wicket win over Fingal neighbours Balbriggan thanks to a convincing all-round display. Julia Hoal ploughed a lonely furrow as the South African dominated the Balbriggan batting making 76 of their modest 128 for 9. Hoal punished anything remotely loose, dispatching 13 boundaries in her 48-ball stay. Saran Condron and Haley Moore were the pick of the hosts attack. Freya Sargent demonstrated her all-round ability as she hit 11 fours in her unbeaten 68, adding an unbroken 129 for the first wicket with Meg Thompson (46*) as they raced to victory in the 16th over of a surprisingly one-sided contest.
