Graham Hume of Waringstown receives Man of the Match award from Trevor McKeown (Lee Nelson)
A devastating bowling spell by Ireland international Graham Hume ensured a comfortable passage into the Challenge Cup quarter-finals for Waringstown, and Lisburn’s first 50-over defeat of the season. Hume, bowling his 10 overs straight through, took six for 20 as the home side collapsed to 54 for seven, with only David Millar of Lisburn’s top six getting into double figures. Late runs from Ewan Wilson and Mike McComish got Lisburn into three figures but Callum Atkinson was immediately caught behind to end the innings after 39 overs, and give Ross Allen his second wicket. He conceded just six runs in 35 balls. With rain during the interval, the Waringstown target was revised to 95 off 42 overs, and Steve Stolk wasted no time in getting the runs, hitting 71 off 32 balls, with three fours and eight sixes. Adam Dennison survived a straightforward chance at point so it was a 10 wickets win in less than eight overs.

Instonians, last year’s beaten finalists, eased past Templepatrick, shuffling their batting order after captain Nikolai Smith surprisingly chose to bat first. Matthew Humphreys opened but was out for three, David Agnew at No 3 hit 34 in a third wicket partnership dominated by Sully Gould who crashed 37 off 19 balls, with five fours and two sixes. Andrew White, survived a huge lbw shout to top score with 80 (11 fours and a six) and Shane Dadswell, coming in at No 8, ensured a big finish with an unbeaten 51 from 24 balls, including two fours and six sixes. The third rain interruption ended the innings after 42 overs and Templepatrick’s target was 277. But when the rain arrived again, the visitors were 66 for six and although the teams got back on the field, with only five overs lost, the new target of 273 was out of sight. George Craigan wrapped up the tail, finishing with four for 14 from his four overs.

Carrickfergus (Roger Bell)
The closest game of the day produced a dramatic finish at Middle Road as Carrickfergus edged Armagh by one wicket in a thrilling DLS encounter. In a rain affected 36 overs per side contest, Armagh posted 182-4. Aaron Wright anchored the innings with an unbeaten 66 from 74 balls, including six fours, while Matthew Steenson contributed 36 not out. The pair transformed the innings after Armagh had slipped to 91-4, adding an unbroken stand that carried the visitors to a competitive total. Set a revised target of 190, Carrickfergus were powered by a magnificent century from overseas professional Atish Varape. The opener dominated the chase with 103 from 93 deliveries, striking 16 fours. However, when he chopped on to Luan Liebenberg, three wickets fell for just four runs, leaving the hosts needing 15 with the last pair at the crease. Needing 10 from the final over, Richard Hood produced the decisive moment, launching successive sixes off Matthew Wright. The second sailed over long-on, prompting jubilant celebrations as Carrick snatched a memorable victory.
Cregagh lost to Lurgan by 118 runs (DLS).
Cregagh Memorial, 30 May.
Lurgan 255-9 (36 overs; O Jaydee 120, L Doddrell 63; A Watt 4-59, M Shannon 2-46)

Lurgan continued their impressive start to the season with a comprehensive 118-run DLS victory over Cregagh at Cregagh Memorial, a result that moved the Mid-Ulster side up to second place in the table with their third win of the campaign. In a rain-affected contest reduced to 36 overs per side, Lurgan posted an imposing 255-9, built around a superb century from opener Jaydee Oliver. Oliver struck 120, including 17 boundaries, and shared a match-defining second-wicket partnership of over 100 runs with prolific overseas professional Liam Doddrell. Doddrell blasted 63 from just 47 deliveries, hitting six fours and four sixes. Alistair Watt claimed 4-59 for the hosts. Set a revised target of 248, Cregagh never seriously threatened despite a determined 68 from Max Shannon, who struck seven fours and two sixes. However, he received little support as wickets fell regularly. Iqbal Khan, Doddrell, Ivan Sinovich and Darwish Nazari all claimed two wickets apiece as Lurgan completed a ruthless and convincing victory.
Derriaghy beat Donacloney Mill by 10 runs (DLS).
Queensway, 30 May.

Derriaghy claimed a hard-fought 10-run DLS victory over Donacloney Mill to get their first league win of the season. Derriaghy posted an imposing 234-6 thanks largely to an explosive century from overseas professional Matt Scoble, who smashed 101 from just 70 deliveries, striking nine fours and five sixes, while Ross Bailey (38), Ryan Beckett (31) and Craig Lewis (22) provided valuable support. Josh Cunningham took 3-69 for the visitors. Donacloney's chase was given early impetus by Neil Kilpatrick, whose 46-ball 62 included six fours and four sixes. However, regular wickets left them in deep trouble at 174-9 and seemingly out of contention. The final wicket pair of Alex Ogle and Harry Lockhart refused to surrender, adding a spirited 67-run partnership. Ogle finished unbeaten on 61 from 52 balls, while Lockhart blasted 28 not out with three sixes, but their brave effort ultimately fell just short.

The Cloghan, 30 May.
Bangor 46-3 (12.2 overs; M Hutchinson 21*; S Henderson 2-11)
Templepatrick
Templepatrick and Bangor will have to do it all again after rain forced the abandonment of their NCU Section One clash at The Cloghan. League leaders Bangor had reached 46-3 in the 13th over when the weather intervened, leaving the visitors perhaps the more relieved side as they earned a second chance in the replay. Templepatrick made the early breakthroughs through Shane Henderson, who produced an excellent spell of 2-11. The seamer accounted for Bangor’s prolific opening pair, trapping both Sam McMillan and Seb Yeates lbw to leave the table-toppers under pressure. Former Ireland international Mark Hutchinson helped steady the innings with an unbeaten 21, while overseas professional Brodie Harrison was dismissed for just eight by David Kane before rain brought proceedings to a premature end.

Vinoth Srinivasan added 23, but Armagh’s attack kept the pressure on throughout. Overseas professional Luan Liebenberg was outstanding with the new ball, taking 5-39, while Harry Doyle provided excellent support with 3-36. The chase was dominated by Armagh’s opening pair as Oliver Mann and the in-form Sam Wilson shared a century stand to put the home side in complete control. Donacloney Mill made a bright start after choosing to bat, reaching 76 for 1 thanks to solid contributions from Lachy Aitken and Craig Kennedy. Aitken top-scored with 37, while Kennedy added 32, but the innings lost momentum badly after the strong opening platform. Deelman top-scored with 28, while Lewis Goodbarn’s 3-33 and Alex Ogle’s 2-47 kept Donacloney Mill in contention throughout. With wickets falling regularly and the pressure mounting, Templepatrick were indebted to a nerveless last-wicket stand of 19 between Fintan McCarthy and Bryn McCallan. Bangor v Armagh - abandoned.
Upritchard Park, 17 May.

Brand dominated the innings with a blistering 100 from just 73 deliveries, peppering the boundary with nine fours and six towering sixes in a commanding display of power hitting. The South African shared a crucial second-wicket partnership of 78 with skipper Andrew McGavera, who contributed a well-paced 32 to keep the scoreboard moving.
