Coleraine have confirmed the return of Varun Chopra for the 2026 season.

Varun and his brother Rishi with the NW Premiership trophy.

The 26-year-old had spent three seasons in the NCU with Cliftonville Academy, where he scored 1280 runs at an average of exactly 32 in 53 matches with six fifties and a century.

His leg-spin bowling was rarely used in the first two seasons, but in 2025 he managed to claim 15 wickets at 21.60.

The former Ireland U-19 international and North-West Warrior was part of the Premiership title winning Coleraine side of 2015 and his return is a real boost for the Bannsiders.

"His performances over the past two seasons have shown real maturity and consistency," said the club on social media.

"We're thrilled to welcome him back into the squad. Everyone is excited to see Varun back in Coleraine colours and we look forward to watching him perform once again at Sandel Lodge."
