STRABANE

  • Captain: Kevin Gallagher
  • Player Coach: John Mooney
  • Overseas professional: Mohammed Mohsin
  • Players in: Allen Patterson, Manav Agarwal
  • Players out: Subhan Shirzad.

Strabane achieved their primary focus last season by surviving in the cut-throat world of the Premiership, and will be look to consolidate their position in the top flight once again this season.

They have changed their overseas professional with the arrival of Pakistani Mohammed Mohsin. The 32-year-old is a top-order batter who has scored two first-class centuries and 16 fifties across all formats in domestic cricket. He is also a more than useful off-break bowler who is particularly effective in white-ball cricket.

Allen Patterson arrives having played previously with Creevedonnell and Fox Lodge. One potential ace in the pack could be Manav Agarwal who is a left-arm seamer who has relocated to Letterkenny having previously worked and played in the UK.

On the debit side, Subhan Shirzad has opted to return to St Johnston having never really fulfilled his talent during his one season with the Red Caps.

"We have had a great winter and been training hard and trying to build on last year," said skipper Gallagher. "We did our job of staying up, and have strengthened the squad for this year with a few new faces and one or two coming back from injuries.

"At the moment we are gelling well. We are very excited to see what Mohammed has to offer. By all accounts he looks like will be a great asset.

"John Mooney will also be returning into the squad after his IPL gig, strengthening us even more."

It's going to be another tough campaign for Strabane, but they have the quality, depth and experience to maintain their top flight status.
