NCU postpone start of season
The NCU have confirmed that they have pushed back the start of the 2026 season by one week, with games now slated to start on Saturday May 2nd.

In a statement the governing body outlined their rationale for the decision.
"Following club consultation and subsequent Domestic Directorate approval, we are implementing an emergency ruling regarding the start of the 2026 season. This decision has come about due to sustained levels of rainfall over the past few months, which have left clubs unable to carry out the required preparation work on squares and outfields in the lead up to the new season. There also appears to be little let-up in the weather, with further rain forecast in the lead up to the season.
All matches scheduled for the first round of the season on Saturday 25 April 2026 have been postponed."
The North-West pushed back the start of their campaign from April 18th to 25th last week.
