BARR HOPING FOR BURNDENNETT BONANZA

Burndennett are in National Cup action as they take on Templepatrick who were relegated last season from the NCU Premiership.

They have also lost quite a few personnel so the Tyrone side could well be in with a real chance of progression with home advantage. Although their game at the weekend was abandoned, Barr’s side did manage to get some action in before the torrential downpours.

“It was great to get out onto the field to see how the new players we have brought in performed,” said Barr. “Although the weather had other ideas and we were washed out, from the little we played there’s definitely a better atmosphere in the group.

“Hopefully we can take the same approach this week against Templepatrick. It’s going to be hard with it in essence being our first game really but we are all looking forward to it.

“The National Cup is a tournament that when I got the captaincy I said that I'd love to go far in. Indeed, I think every club that beat us in the last four years has gone on to win it, so it would be great if it was our turn this year.”

No North West side has ever won the National Cup, but four have reached the final – Killyclooney, Drummond, Ardmore and most recently Strabane.

Could Barr’s Burndennett be the first?
