Two wins in two days for MCC over hosts Munster Heat as they followed up Saturday’s success with a 38-run victory in Cork.

MCC recovered brilliantly from a dramatic start after losing two wickets in the opening over to the impressive Usman Sherzad. The early collapse continued and they were in serious trouble at 71 for 6 before Diarmaid Tucker and Charlie Fernandes transformed the innings with a superb seventh-wicket partnership of 91.
Tucker led the recovery with a composed 71, striking six boundaries in an innings that held MCC together when they were under pressure. Fernandes provided excellent support with an aggressive 56 from just 54 balls, also hitting six fours as the pair wrestled momentum back from Munster Heat.
James McCollum added valuable late runs with 35 as MCC closed on a competitive 230 for 9 from their 40 overs. Bakhtyar Nabi and Sherzad each claimed two wickets, while Umer Khan’s remarkable figures of 2 for 1 from his opening burst had initially left MCC reeling.
Munster Heat’s chase never quite gathered enough momentum despite strong contributions from Muhammad Shabir and Bakhtyar Nabi. Shabir top scored with 58, including six fours and two sixes, while Nabi blasted 47 with four boundaries and three maximums to briefly keep the home side in contention.
