North County booked their place in the Leinster Senior Cup semi-finals with an emphatic eight-wicket DLS victory over Clontarf at Balrothery after a rain-delayed contest was reduced to 40 overs per side.

Former North County player Fionn Hand led the Clontarf effort with a superb 80 from just 53 balls, striking seven fours and four sixes.

Seamus Lynch contributed 29 and Eoghan Delany added 21 as the visitors posted 205-9.

Lochie Hardy enjoyed an excellent all-round afternoon, claiming 3-38, while Sean Sludds chipped in with 2-56.

County's chase got off to a flying start as Hardy and Suliman Safi dominated the bowling.

The opening pair added 131 in only 15.2 overs, with Safi blasting 56 from 44 deliveries, including eight fours and a six. Hardy continued the assault, finishing unbeaten on 107 from 86 balls, a knock featuring 12 fours and six sixes.

 Although Hand claimed a consolation wicket, County never looked troubled. Hardy and captain Eddie Richardson (27 not out) shared an unbroken half-century partnership to steer the hosts to 207-2 in just 27 overs, sealing victory with 13 overs to spare.

Rain came to Railway Union’s rescue as their tie against Leinster was abandoned at Park Avenue, forcing a replay after a rain-interrupted contest reduced to 25 overs per side.

Batting first, Railway Union struggled to build momentum against an impressive Leinster bowling attack and closed on 127-9. Abhay Tipnis continued his good recent form with a top score of 38, including three boundaries, while Peter le Roux added 21.

Joey Carroll led the wicket-taking with 3-30, while Mark Tonge (2-11), Jai Moondra (2-25) and Saqib Bahadur (2-19) shared the remaining wickets.

 Leinster looked firmly on course for victory when the weather intervened. Opener Younas Ahmadzai launched a blistering assault, smashing an unbeaten 37 from just 22 balls, featuring five fours and two sixes.

His aggressive start helped Leinster race to 45 without loss early in the sixth over before rain ended play.

With no further play possible, Railway Union escaped defeat and will now get a second chance when the sides meet again in the replay.

Phoenix’s clash with holders Pembroke was abandoned due to thunder and lightning at Phoenix Park, with the hosts appearing well placed to secure a quarter-final victory.

In a match reduced to 36 overs per side after a delayed start, Pembroke posted 197-9. Tim Tector dominated an opening stand of 55, striking 41 from 37 balls with four fours and three sixes.

 Danny Hogan anchored the innings with 55 from 72 deliveries, including four fours and three sixes, while Greg Hollins made a run-a-ball 35 and Sanil Gupta added a brisk 27.

George Dockrell starred with the ball, taking 3-29, while Ben White and Sean McNicholl claimed two wickets each.

Set a revised target of 148 in 23 overs, Phoenix lost Shane Getkate first ball but recovered impressively. Johit Munjal struck 30 from 28 balls, Tyrone Kane made 25 with five fours, and Dockrell blasted an unbeaten 36 from 32 deliveries.

Phoenix had reached 104-3 after 16 overs and looked on course for victory before the weather brought proceedings to a premature end.

Civil Service and Adamstown will have to do it all again after their first round tie at Phoenix Park was also abandoned.

In a match reduced to 30 overs per side following a delayed start, Adamstown posted 137-9. Angad Bawa top-scored with 27, while Sidharth Biju made 23. Devender Ranolia led the Civil Service bowling effort with 3-29, supported by Abhishek Kare's 2-18.

Civil Service looked firmly on course for victory when the heavens opened. Edson Silva producing a blistering unbeaten 31 from only 16 balls, including three fours and three sixes as they were on 40 for 0.

The abandonment will be particularly frustrating for Civil Service, who appeared in complete control. The sides will now meet again at Oak Hill within the next 11 days to decide the quarter-final opponents for The Hills.

The Hills recorded a six-wicket DLS victory league win over Terenure at The Vineyard in a match reduced to 37 overs per side.

Terenure posted 201-7, with Sid Nair top-scoring with 56, while Tom Shand made 46 and Henry Dall added 38.

Mohammad Sherzad was the pick of The Hills bowlers, returning impressive figures of 2-12.

Chasing a revised target of 207, The Hills got off to a flying start thanks to Muzamil Sherzad, who blasted 35 from just 18 balls, striking five fours and two sixes.

Nathan Rooney then produced a devastating innings, hammering 68 from only 34 deliveries, including eight sixes and a four, to put the result beyond doubt.

Liam Blackford earlier contributed 26 as The Hills reached 208-4 in the 32nd over to seal a comfortable victory.
