Jersey Cricket has announced an exciting international summer programme at NCC Grainville this July, with both Nepal and the United Arab Emirates set to visit the island for a series of 50-over matches as part of their preparations for their upcoming World Cup League 2 fixtures in Netherlands and Scotland respectively.
The DFDS International Summer Series will see Jersey host two 50-over matches against Nepal on 13th & 15th July and two against the UAE on 27th & 29th July, with all teams also training at NCC Grainville throughout their stay. The fixtures will provide local supporters with a rare opportunity to watch some of the world’s leading Associate nations in action on home soil.
All matches will be live-streamed globally, showcasing Jersey as an international cricket destination.
Nepal boasts one of the sport’s most passionate fan bases and the UAE continues to compete strongly on the world stage. The series will form an important part of both teams’ preparations ahead of their ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 campaign in Scotland and Jersey’s Challenge League round 3 in October.
Jersey Cricket Chief Executive, Sarah Gomersall said:
“We are thrilled to welcome both Nepal and the UAE to Jersey this summer. Hosting high-quality international opposition is hugely valuable for our players and an exciting opportunity for cricket fans. We are also proud that NCC Grainville continues to be recognised as a venue capable of supporting international cricket and broadcasting the game to audiences worldwide.”
DFDS Route Director (Jersey), Chris Parker said:
“DFDS is proud to support the International Summer Series and help bring international cricket to Jersey. As the Island’s ferry operator, we are delighted to connect travelling supporters from the UK and France with this exciting programme of fixtures. The series showcases not only high-quality cricket but also Jersey as a fantastic destination for sport, tourism and hospitality, and we look forward to welcoming fans on board this summer.”
