Scott Macbeth’s unbeaten century helped the Emerging Warriors fight back and secure a draw against the Emerging Knights on the second day of their Future Series encounter.

Resuming in a commanding position after declaring their first innings on 414 for eight, the Knights quickly took control with the ball as the Warriors were dismissed for 180 in 51.2 overs.

Carson McCullough was the outstanding bowler, claiming five for 23 from 9.2 overs. He removed Mo Hussain for 47 and Gavin Roulston for 28 before also dismissing Swarnim Jha, Travis Faulkner and Josh Wilson.

The Warriors had recovered to 77 for one before losing Roulston and Jha at the same score. Luke Marillier made 11, while Scott Macbeth contributed 23 before falling to James West.

West finished with three for 26, including the wickets of Bobby Brolly and captain Robbie Millar, while Finn Lutton and Harry Dyer claimed one apiece. Sam Haslett was left unbeaten on 32 as the Warriors conceded a first-innings deficit of 234.

Following on, the Warriors suffered a disastrous start as Hussain and Roulston were both dismissed without scoring by Dyer.

Hassan Shahid counter-attacked with 31, while Marillier made 29, but it was Macbeth who transformed the innings with a superb unbeaten 119.

The talented all-rounder shared an important partnership with Haslett, who struck 36, before Brolly added a useful 16. Macbeth’s century guided the Warriors to 266 for six declared from 57 overs, wiping out the deficit and edging them 32 runs ahead.

Dyer returned two for 34, while McCullough, Lutton, West and Walsh each claimed one wicket as the Warriors’ spirited second-innings resistance ensured honours finished even.
