Leinster Lightning Bolts completed a commanding innings-and-142-run victory over Munster Heat after dominating their Future Series encounter at Oak Hill.

Munster were dismissed for 176 in their first innings, despite Sunil Gautam making 38 and Usman Sherzad contributing an unbeaten 20 from number 11.

Oliver Riley led the Bolts attack with excellent figures of four for 15 from 8.3 overs, removing Gautam, Awais Saghir, Dineth Sumanasinghe and Mark Donnelly. Mark Tonge and Yash Balasubramanium claimed two wickets apiece, while Daniel Murray and Adam Doheny also struck.

The Bolts then piled up 404 in only 60 overs to establish a huge first-innings advantage of 228.

Robert O’Brien was the standout performer, striking a superb 104 before being dismissed by Munster captain Zubair Khan. Daniel Forkin made 79, Yaseen Sherzad struck 81 and Philippe le Roux added a fluent 50 as the Heat bowlers struggled to contain the scoring.

Usman Sherzad was Munster’s most successful bowler with four for 57, while Khan and Mark Donnelly collected two wickets each.

Facing a heavy deficit, Munster’s second innings quickly collapsed to six for three. Gautam made four, while Callum Stevenson and Dineth Sumanasinghe were both dismissed without scoring.

Saghir offered brief resistance with 16, but wickets continued to tumble as Daniel Murray produced a devastating spell of three for three from four overs. He removed Niall Donnelly, Chinmay Shinde and William Shields, with Shinde and Shields both falling without scoring.

Seneth Sumanasinghe battled to an unbeaten 27 and Usman Sherzad added 15, but Munster were eventually bowled out for 86 in 35.1 overs.

Tonge, Riley and Tim Johnson claimed two wickets apiece, while Luke Murray took one, as the Bolts wrapped up an emphatic victory with a thoroughly dominant all-round display.
