Adam Doyle produced a superb unbeaten 95 as Malahide secured a 42-run (DLS) victory over Balbriggan.

Doyle struck 12 fours and two sixes from 115 balls, anchoring Malahide’s 235 for five from 44 overs after Alan Reynolds had provided early impetus with 24 from 20 deliveries.

Robbie Foulkes added a valuable 38 in a second-wicket stand of 77 with Doyle, while Timcy Khanduja made 18 and Andrew Sheridan finished unbeaten on 23 from 21 balls as Malahide accelerated late in the innings.

Bhavesh Lakhotia, Dylan Lues and Farooq Nasr claimed a wicket apiece for Balbriggan.

Connor Fletcher launched the reply in aggressive fashion with 20 from just 13 balls, but Balbriggan were unable to establish the partnerships required to sustain the chase.

Ghanim Dara top-scored with 50 from 63 deliveries, while Aaron McGeehan kept hopes alive with a brisk 33 from 34 balls.

However, Malahide continued to make regular breakthroughs.

James Newland was the most successful bowler with three wickets, while Foulkes, Khanduja and Sheridan claimed two apiece as Balbriggan were dismissed for 207.

The victory was built around Doyle’s composed innings, with the opener falling just five runs short of what would have been a deserved century.
