UNVEILING OF PLAQUE IN MEMORY OF EVELYN HARMON
“I’ll never forget the away trips in Ev’s white mini. Maybe a slight exaggeration but it seemed like virtually the entire team was piled into the car. And what a laugh we had along the way!” recalled former teammate and friend, Jacqui (Lewis) Turner who spoke movingly at the unveiling of the new bench and plaque dedicated to the memory of Evelyn Harmon, the first female President of Malahide Cricket Club 2009-2010.

Evelyn captained the Ladies 2nd XI in the 1990s. Very competitive as a player, often opening up, scoring many hard fought runs.
Along with others she ensured that the ladies game prospered in the Village sometimes in the face of challenging conditions.

Following her player days Evelyn became active in the administration of women’s cricket. She was manager of the senior Irish Womens team in the early 2000s.
In Malahide she was a Committee member and carried out a number of roles within the club before being elected President.
A large gathering including Evelyn’s mother and family and friends attended the unveiling by Malahide CC President John Morgan.
