Dublin Guardians will not be involved  in next weekend’s action on their home pitch at Malahide after another defeat, by Glasgow Cosmic, the one team below them at the start of the day.

Choosing to bat first, Dublin were bowled out in the last over for 159 and Glasgow eased home with five wickets and seven balls to spare. Captain George Munsey, after a cautious start – he was on 20 off 23 balls -  sprang into action with back to back sixes off Craig Young and, just for good measure hit three of his next four balls for two more  sixes and a four off George Dockrell. He brought up his 50 with what proved to his 31st and final ball as fellow Scotland international Richie Berrington finished the match with two fours off Matthew Hollard.

New Zealander Finn Allen, in his first game, hit 30 off 27 balls and Liam Livingstone 29 off 17 as Glasgow put in their most impressive game of the tournament. Before the late carnage, David Willey bowled his four overs for 24 and Young three overs for 22.

The Dublin innings was dominated by Vijay Shankar who hit 67 off 43 with six fours and three sixes but no-one else got past 20 as wickets fell regularly, either side of  a fourth wicket stand of 52 between Shankar and Muhammad Waseem.

Ali Khan, who finally had Shankar caught behind  in the 20th over, had figures of four for 22 and Tymal Mils picked up three for 24 in his four overs.
