Malaysia will host 13 teams across two ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Asia Qualifiers this month as the road to the 2028 global event gathers pace.

The twin tournaments, Qualifiers A and B, will run in Kuala Lumpur from October 5 to 14, with 36 matches scheduled across Bayuemas Oval, UKM Oval and STC Oval.

Bahrain, Bhutan, Kuwait, Mongolia, Myanmar, Qatar and Thailand will contest Qualifier A, while Hong Kong China, China, Malaysia, Maldives, Saudi Arabia and Singapore make up the six-team Qualifier B.

Both competitions will be played on a single round-robin basis, with the top three teams in each group progressing to the next stage of the Asian qualification pathway in 2027.

Malaysia open their Qualifier B campaign against Hong Kong China on October 8 at STC Oval before facing Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Singapore and China.

Qualifier A begins three days earlier, with Myanmar taking on Bhutan, Thailand meeting Bahrain and Kuwait facing Qatar on the opening day.

Malaysian Cricket Association President Mahinda Vallipuram said the country was honoured to host another important stage on the road to the 2028 World Cup.

He said the tournaments would provide an opportunity to highlight the continued development and ambition of cricket across Asia, while also thanking the ICC for its support of the game in the region.

The two events will provide six qualification places for next year’s regional final, ensuring plenty is at stake during what promises to be a busy period of international T20 cricket.

All matches will be streamed live on ICC.tv worldwide.
