However, the Donegal side showed real determination to fight back into the contest. Skipper David Anthony made a stubborn 13, while Ryan McAuley anchored the recovery with an unbeaten 42. Scott Devenney also dug in as valuable late-order runs lifted St Johnston to 133 for 9 from their 50 overs, giving the bowlers something to defend. Coleraine soon discovered conditions were no easier for batting as the Saints attack kept things tight throughout the chase. Mark Pollock struck twice for 19 runs, while Ryan McAuley completed an impressive all-round display with 2-24. Nathan Cole and Graeme McCarter both picked up two wickets as the game swung back and forth. With the match finely balanced entering the closing stages, Matthew Hutchinson held his nerve superbly. His unbeaten 33, featuring six boundaries, proved decisive as he shared a crucial unbroken 27-run stand for the ninth wicket with Gareth Burns, who finished 8 not out. It completed an eventful day for Burns, who was earlier penalised five runs for applying saliva to the ball, while St Johnston were left still searching for their first Premiership win of the season.

Ballymagorry, 18 May.
Fox Lodge 164-8 (20 overs; Dean McCarter 66*, Ali Doherty 39; Matty Smyth 3-19, Jacob Logan-Wilson 2-23)
Coleraine 165-5 (18.5 overs; Louren Steenkamp 51, David Cooke 35*, Matthew Hutchinson 22*, Varun Chopra 22; Swarnim Jha 2-29)
Coleraine chased superbly to claim a five-wicket victory over Fox Lodge in an entertaining clash. Fox Lodge posted a competitive 164 for 8 thanks largely to an excellent opening stand of 69 between Ali Doherty and Dean McCarter. Doherty raced to a boundary-filled 39 from just 27 balls, striking seven fours and a six, while McCarter anchored the innings superbly with an unbeaten 66 from 47 deliveries that included four fours and three maximums. Coleraine’s bowlers fought back well after the aggressive start, with Matty Smyth impressing again as he claimed 3 for 19 using his variations cleverly. New signing Jacob Logan-Wilson also continued his encouraging start since arriving from The Nedd, taking 2 for 23. The visitors kept pace with the asking rate throughout their reply. Louren Steenkamp blasted 51 from 33 balls and shared an opening stand of 56 with Patrick Carson before both fell to Swarnim Jha. Varun Chopra added 22, but the game still hung in the balance with 38 required from 23 balls. David Cooke then struck an unbeaten 35 from 20 balls, while Matthew Hutchinson’s explosive 22 from 11 deliveries guided Coleraine home with seven balls remaining - the pair clearing the ropes five times in the closing stages.

Swarnim Jha and Levi Kerr (Fox Lodge CC)
Fox Lodge made it two wins from two with a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Coleraine at Ballymagorry after Levi Kerr’s five-wicket haul set up the chase. Coleraine’s innings never recovered from the nightmare start of losing professional Louren Steenkamp first ball to teenager Swarnim Jha. The South African had struck an unbeaten century on Saturday, but cricket proved a great leveller as he departed for a golden duck. Experienced campaigner David Cooke battled hard for 35, while Patrick Carson added 23 and Jacob Logan-Wilson chipped in with 22, but Fox Lodge kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Kerr was the standout performer with superb figures of 5-41, while Aaron Heywood claimed 2-10 and Swarnim Jha picked up 2-30 as Coleraine were dismissed for 121 in 30.5 overs. Fox Lodge suffered a couple of early setbacks in reply with Ali Doherty and Charlie Simpson falling cheaply, but there was never any real alarm thanks to an excellent third-wicket stand of 75 between Gayan Maneeshan and Jason Milligan. Maneeshan dominated the scoring with a fluent 54 from just 42 balls, striking 10 fours and a six, while Milligan finished unbeaten on 37 with five fours and a maximum. Brian Allen added a run-a-ball 16 not out as Fox Lodge eased to 122-3 in 18.4 overs.

Louren Steenkamp (Stephen McCartney)
Coleraine eased to victory in a rain-affected clash after South African professional Louren Steenkamp produced a superb unbeaten century to guide the Bannsiders home. Reduced to 36 overs per side, Strabane posted 176 with several batters making starts but none able to push on. Rhys Logue and Aaron Gillespie added 51 for the second wicket, scoring 38 and 31 respectively, before overseas player Mohammed Mohsin injected late momentum with a quickfire 43 from just 33 deliveries, clearing the ropes four times. Coleraine’s bowlers shared the workload impressively, with Gareth Burns, Scott Campbell, Matthew Smyth and Steenkamp all taking two wickets each. Set a revised target of 201, the hosts recovered from two early blows by Andrew Mullen to take control through Steenkamp. He blasted an unbeaten 101 from only 69 balls, striking six fours and seven sixes in a dominant innings. He shared an 80-run stand with Varun Chopra, back from the NCU, before adding an unbroken 66 with Matty Smyth as Coleraine sealed an emphatic win.

Defending champions Bready continued their dominant start to the Women’s Premiership season with an emphatic 129-run victory over Coleraine. Batting first, Bready piled up an imposing 174-3 from their 20 overs, with Lucy McGranaghan leading the charge with an unbeaten 59. McGranaghan shared an excellent opening partnership of 83 inside the first ten overs with Ella Wasson, who made a lively 30. Both players struck four boundaries apiece as they laid the perfect foundation for another commanding total. Mansi Bhavsar added 23 during the middle overs, while Alana Dalzell provided the late fireworks with an unbeaten 14. Irish international Dalzell also struck the only six of the innings as Bready accelerated towards the finish. Coleraine’s bowling attack struggled for control, conceding 47 extras, including 38 wides, which further boosted the champions’ total. Kia McCartney was the pick of the bowlers with 2-29.
