Fox Lodge’s rebuilding project continues to show encouraging signs despite a narrow defeat as Eglinton claimed a five-wicket victory at Ballymagorry. The home side posted a competitive total thanks largely to captain Mollie Devine, who produced an outstanding innings of 85 from 71 balls, striking 13 fours and two sixes. Devine shared an opening stand of 42 with Jessica McClean before adding a further 48 for the second wicket alongside Emma Allen (13). Eglinton’s chase was finely poised at 97 for 5 despite useful contributions from Cara Lamberton (33), Alice McLaughlin (16) and Catherine Kee (14). The visitors then found their match-winning partnership as Rea Moore’s unbeaten 23 and Bella Kyte combined in an unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 46 to guide Eglinton to 143 for 5 in 16.4 overs. However, Fox Lodge were hindered by indiscipline with the ball, conceding a costly 44 extras, including 33 wides and 11 no-balls. While defeated, Fox Lodge deserve credit for their impressive youth development work following the close-season player exodus, with a new generation of talent already emerging.

Fox Lodge booked their place in the cup semi-finals with a crushing 181-run victory over Bready after dominating both innings. Gayan Maneeshan provided early impetus with a fluent 60 from just 50 balls, striking seven fours and three sixes. He shared a second-wicket stand of 56 with Charlie Simpson (18) before Jason Milligan took centre stage. Milligan's superb unbeaten 92 from 110 deliveries, featuring eight fours, was the backbone of the innings, while his 94-run partnership with Brian Allen, who made 42, put Fox Lodge firmly in control. Jamie McIntyre added a brisk unbeaten 25 at the close. Former Fox Lodge player Geeth Kumara claimed 3 for 36 and then top-scored with 25 in reply, but Bready offered little resistance. Five batsmen were dismissed without scoring as Adam Walker (4-19), Levi Kerr (3-19) and Aaron Heywood (2-7) routed the visitors for just 82. Ballymagorry, 8 June.
Fox Lodge 27 (14.1 overs; Lucy Thompson 4-8, Rihanna Young 2-4)
Bonds Glen 12-1 (3.1 overs)
Fox Lodge’s difficult season continued as their home fixture against Bonds Glen was washed out just as defeat appeared inevitable. A youthful Fox Lodge side, depleted after losing many of the players who helped dominate women’s cricket in recent years, struggled with both availability and a strong Bonds Glen bowling attack. They were dismissed for just 27 in 14.1 overs, with Lucy Thompson producing outstanding figures of 4-8 and Rihanna Young claiming 2-4. Bonds Glen made a confident start to the chase, reaching 12-1 in only 3.1 overs and looking firmly on course for victory when heavy rain swept in and forced the match to be abandoned. Vadivel Murthy chipped in with 2-49 as the visitors maintained control from start to finish. Strabane’s reply suffered an early setback when skipper Kevin Gallagher departed for a single, giving Fox Lodge a glimmer of hope. However, that was as good as it got for the hosts as Rhys Logue and Aaron Gillespie took command with a superb unbroken century partnership for the second wicket. Logue finished unbeaten on 57, striking three fours and four sixes in an aggressive innings, while Gillespie played the perfect supporting role with 42 not out from an innings containing six boundaries and a six. Swarnim Jha and Levi Kerr (Fox Lodge CC)
Fox Lodge made it two wins from two with a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Coleraine at Ballymagorry after Levi Kerr’s five-wicket haul set up the chase. Coleraine’s innings never recovered from the nightmare start of losing professional Louren Steenkamp first ball to teenager Swarnim Jha. The South African had struck an unbeaten century on Saturday, but cricket proved a great leveller as he departed for a golden duck. Experienced campaigner David Cooke battled hard for 35, while Patrick Carson added 23 and Jacob Logan-Wilson chipped in with 22, but Fox Lodge kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Kerr was the standout performer with superb figures of 5-41, while Aaron Heywood claimed 2-10 and Swarnim Jha picked up 2-30 as Coleraine were dismissed for 121 in 30.5 overs. Fox Lodge suffered a couple of early setbacks in reply with Ali Doherty and Charlie Simpson falling cheaply, but there was never any real alarm thanks to an excellent third-wicket stand of 75 between Gayan Maneeshan and Jason Milligan. Maneeshan dominated the scoring with a fluent 54 from just 42 balls, striking 10 fours and a six, while Milligan finished unbeaten on 37 with five fours and a maximum. Brian Allen added a run-a-ball 16 not out as Fox Lodge eased to 122-3 in 18.4 overs.

Gayan Maneeshan and Levi Kerr (Aaron Heywood)
Fox Lodge continued their strong form with a 29-run DLS victory over Newbuildings in a rain-affected 32-over contest. The Foxies built their innings around a superb third-wicket partnership of 119 in just 16 overs between Sri Lankan professional Gayan Maneeshan and Jason Milligan. Maneeshan’s prolific early-season form showed no sign of slowing as he hammered 87 from 70 balls, striking 12 fours and three sixes. Milligan provided excellent support with a powerful 53 that included four boundaries and three maximums, while Charlie Simpson laid the early foundations with 33 featuring five fours. Skipper Ross Hunter picked up two wickets for the hosts. Set a revised target of 214, Newbuildings collapsed to 92-7 despite an explosive 28-ball 49 from Peat Salmon before he was removed by Johnny “Bap” Robinson. Ross Dougherty battled gamely with an unbeaten 78 and shared a half-century stand with Josh Wilson, but the required rate proved beyond them. Levi Kerr claimed three wickets, while teenager Swarnim Jha took two in Fox Lodge’s comfortable win.

Fox Lodge 124-5 (18.3 overs; G Maneeshan 40, J Milligan 34*, D McCarter 28; D Rankin 2-26)
In the North West, just one top flight T20 clash beat the weather with Fox Lodge winning the Tyrone derby at Bready. The Magheramason side could only post 121 with three wickets for Jason Milligan and two apiece for Levi Kerr and Swarnim Jha. Gayan Maneeshan hit three sixes in a 22-ball 40, adding 57 for the second wicket with Dean McCarter (28) to put the Foxies in the ascendancy, eventually winning by five wickets with Milligan hitting an unbeaten 34.

Fox Lodge beat St Johnston by 7 wickets.
Ballymagorry, 11 May.
St Johnston 117-4 (20 overs; S Porter 67*; E Moore 2-21)
Fox Lodge 120-3 (18.5 overs; K Bates 40*, E Allen 24*, E Moore 20)
Shannon Porter scored an unbeaten 67 (David Anthony)
Fox Lodge claimed an important victory over newly promoted St Johnston at Ballymagorry, chasing down their target with seven balls to spare. Batting first, St Johnston posted 117-4 from their 20 overs thanks almost entirely to an outstanding innings from Shannon Porter. Opening the batting, Porter carried her bat for an unbeaten 67 from 74 deliveries, striking 11 boundaries in a determined knock. However, she received little support from the rest of the batting line-up as Fox Lodge kept the scoring under control for long periods. Elle Moore was the standout bowler for the hosts, taking 2-21. Fox Lodge’s reply got off to a shaky start and they found themselves in trouble at 57-3 after star batter Mollie Devine went cheaply. With the game finely balanced, Kara Bates and Emma Allen produced a match-winning fourth-wicket partnership to guide their side home. Bates finished unbeaten on 40, while Allen contributed 24 not out in an unbroken stand of 63 that came in just ten overs. In a tight contest, St Johnston were ultimately hindered by conceding 32 extras with the ball, a factor that proved decisive in the final result.
Irish Senior Cup
Round 1: Muckamore beat Fox Lodge by 8 wickets.
Moylena, 9 May.
Fox Lodge 297-5 (50 overs; G Maneeshan 133, C Simpson 56, B Allen 43*, A Doherty 34; N Brand 2-34)
Muckamore 298-2 (41.1 overs; N Brand 128, M Gleghorne 109*, A Shields 30*, M Bates 20)
Centuries from Neil Brand and Mark Gleghorne steered Muckamore to a comfortable eight wickets victory over Fox Lodge at Moylena. Brand hit 128 from 83 balls with 13 fours and five sixes and Gleghorne, with whom he shared a second wicket stand of exactly 200, was 109 not out (10 fours, three sixes) from 109 balls when the hosts reached their target with almost nine overs to spare. Former North Down professional Gayan Maneeshan scored almost half of Fox Lodge's 297 for five, making 133 with eight fours and eight sixes.
NWCU Women's Premiership
Eglinton beat Fox Lodge by 1 wicket.
Eglinton, 4 May.
Fox Lodge 82-5 (20 overs; Elle Moore 23, Kara Bates 17; Cara Lamberton 2-9, Lucy Carmichael 2-14)
Eglinton 83-9 (15.1 overs; Allie McLaughlin 27; Kara Bates 2-13, Chloe Young 2-18, Mollie Devine 2-18)
There was a real thriller at Eglinton, where the hosts just edged out Fox Lodge by one wicket in a low scoring game. Elle Moore (23) and Kara Bates (17) were the main run scorers in a modest total of 82 for 5 - two wickets apiece for Cara Lamberton and Lucy Carmichael. Eglinton found scoring just as tough but Alice McLaughlin got them to the brink of victory with a top score of 27. When she fell, six were still needed but the villagers last pair of Emma Irwin and Lauren Whiteside got them over the line. There were two wickets each for Kara Bates, Chloe Young and Mollie Devine, but they will surely rue the concession of 34 extras - 29 of them bowling ones which ultimately cost them the game.
