GLENDERMOTT

  • Captain: Ted Britton
  • Overseas professional: Blayde Capell
  • Players in: Craig Averill
  • Players out: None

It's a huge year for Glendermott, who are clearly intent on making their centenary a year to remember for the Rectory side.

They have made a real statement of intent with the signing of Blayde Capell as their professional, and the arrival of all-rounder Craig Averill adds further quality.

Glendermott will be led by Trevor Britton and he is certainly relishing the prospect of landing silverware.

"It's a massive year for the club celebrating its 100th anniversary," said Britton. "So much hard work has taken place on and off the field, and it's hats off to everyone involved.

"For me personally it's just a great honour to be first team captain this year; the Championship is probably as strong as I have ever seen it in many years - every team has strengthened well.

"But for me, we have been missing some experience with the bat and that's why we were keen to sign two top-class batters with Craig Averill and the Blayde Capell, who needs no introduction. Theat has just been a massive lift for the whole club, and a regular professional this season should make a huge difference.

"Last season we won the Sammy Jeffrey and got close to the play-off, as well as the quarter-final of the National Cup which we hope to learn from.

"People forget we are still a very young team, with more than half in their early 20s. I would like us to go out and play positive cricket, with a good mix of youth and experience with bat and ball.

"But it will be one game at a time for Glendermott. We also have Big Ben Mills back from a full season in Australia. We have had a good pre-season, which I think has helped us to focus. I just want us to enjoy our cricket and play with no fear.

"We look forward to a busy summer at the Rectory and one the supporters and players can enjoy."

You wouldn't bet against celebrations aplenty in 2026 for Glendermott.
