Ireland Under 19 Women lost against the UAE seniors by three wickets in a low scoring encounter in Dubai.
The Irish found the going tough batting first as they were bowled out for 82 in 17 overs.
Skipper Niamh McNulty top-scored with a modest 15, while there were double figure contributions from Lucy Neely, Julie McNally, Annabel Squires (all made 12), and Alice Walsh (11).
Lucy Neely scored an unbeaten 12
Michelle Botha (3-12), Heena Hotchandani (2-5), and Mehall Thakur (2-1) did the damage for the hosts.
The modest target proved tricky enough for the Emiratis despite a fluent 34 from opener Lavanya Keny (5 fours).
Two wickets from Coleraine off-spinner Kia McCartney (2-20), and one apiece for Niamh McNulty, Lucy Neely, Ellie McGee and Lara McBride gave the Irish hope as they reduced UAE to 71 for 7, but the hosts eventually prevailed in the final over.
Ireland U19's are using their stay in the area to prepare for the U19 World Cup which starts in Malaysia next week.
