Michael Waite scored a half century but it was in vain as Western Province chased 191 to win by seven wickets,
Batting first, the Grasshoppers were in trouble at 120 for 7 despite a typically belligerent 39 from Jonny Waite (5 fours, 2 sixes), and 23 from Glenn Halliday.
An eighth wicket stand of 55 between Michael Waite, who top-scored with 50 (3 fours, 2 sixes), and Aaron Wright (28) gave the Grasshoppers something to bowl at as they posted 191.
It was always going to be a tough ask to defend against a high quality batting line-up in 37c conditions, and it proved so as the hosts eased to the win.
Neil Gill claimed the only wicket to fall, but there were fine spells without much luck from Calum Atkinson, Neil Whitworth and Aaron Wright that kept West Province into the 34th over.
Next up for the Grasshoppers is a Robbie Williams concert, a Shark Diving trip, followed by a visit to the Gary Kirsten Academy and a T20 clash, with two matches also lined up for the weekend.
