The NW's most successful Senior Cup side Sion Mills are back in the competition for the first time in a decade and looking forward to the challenge.

The Tyrone side recorded back-to-back wins in 1983 and 1984 against Ardmore and Brigade to ectend their record haul to 29, but lean times fell on the famous side, and their last involvement in the blue riband competition was an 8-wicket loss to Glendermott in 2014.

The draw earlier this month pitted Sion against Coleraine, with the Bannsiders making the long haul to The Holm in May.

For Simon Galloway, Sion's return is a welcome boost to the club ahead of the 2025 season.

"Sion are delighted to back in the Senior Cup this year after a number of years absent," said Galloway.

"As the competition's most successful club it’s important for us to be involved no matter how unlikely it is in adding to the tally.

"We’re really pleased to get a home draw against Coleraine and we’ve no doubt that the community will turn out in force to support the team.

"We’ll be going into the tie as underdogs for sure and it’s a bit of a free hit really and there is a lot of talent in this squad, so we will prepare as best we can to try and cause an upset. Here’s hoping the weather Gods are kind and set us all up for a great days cricket."
