Italian masterclass for UK community cricketers
The NUSC cricketers were treated to a special masterclass from Italian international wicketkeeper Gian-Piero Meade over the weekend.
Thanks to the Riverside Leisure Complex and its staff, the young North East England-based cricketers had access to the Durham Council's state-of-the-art cricket facilities and a very special international guest coach for the day.
Working alongside the young players in their drills, NUSC graduate Gian-Piero, warmed up for his forthcoming ICC CWC Challenge League matches and then turned masterclass coach leading a session on the techniques that have helped him achieve a nine-year international career.
John D Holland, NUSC Director was delighted to welcome Gian-Piero adding:
“Gian-Piero knows he is always welcome at NUSC, he is synonymous with the club and sets an inspirational example for everyone where belief and hard work can take you. The whole club thanks Gian-Piero for his efforts on Saturday, both when training to set the example for the young players to follow, and to be so open in his masterclass to the techniques he uses. We wish him and Italy the very best with their forthcoming ICC CWC Challenge League series in Hong Kong in February"
For the NUSC cricketers, it is another step on their preparation journey for the 2025 North East Cricket Series with details to be released soon on the international teams flying to the North East of England to participate in August.
