2025 PROVISIONAL FIXTURE SCHEDULES ANNOUNCED

Cricket Scotland is pleased to confirm provisional details of the Scotland men’s and women’s senior fixture schedule for 2025.

Both squads will compete in ICC World Cup qualifying tournaments this year, whilst the men will play three CWCL2 series across the 2025 summer.

Scotland Women will compete in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier between 4-19 April, with the venue of the tournament yet to be confirmed by the ICC. Six nations – Bangladesh, West Indies, Pakistan, Ireland, Thailand and Scotland – will battle for two places at the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup, taking place in India in October. A fixture
schedule for the Qualifier will be announced in due course by the ICC.

Ahead of this Qualifier, the women’s squad are set to undertake a warm-weather training block at Desert Springs in Spain in February. Further fixtures for the women’s squad this summer will be confirmed in due course and are dependent around ongoing discussions with several interested parties.

Scotland Men will compete in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier between 29 June and 13 July, with the tournament being hosted by the Netherlands. Five nations – Scotland, Netherlands, Guernsey, Italy and Jersey – will fight it out for two places at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India. A fixture schedule for the Qualifier will be announced in due course by the ICC.

Ahead of this Qualifier, the men’s squad will play two ICC CWCL2 series, first against hosts Netherlands and UAE in May – including an extra, delayed fixture against UAE held over from March 2024 – before welcoming Nepal and Netherlands in June to Scotland.

Later in the summer the men will play their third CWCL2 series of the year, hosted by Canada and also featuring Namibia, between 27 August and 11 September. Fixture details for this series will be confirmed in due course by the host country.

Information regarding ticketing for June’s home CWCL2 series will be released in the coming weeks.

Further fixtures for the men’s squad this summer will be confirmed in due course and are dependent around ongoing discussions with several interested parties.

Craig Wallace, Scotland Women’s Head Coach, said:
“Looking ahead to the Qualifier, the most exciting thing is the standard of cricket that we’re going to be playing at that tournament. The quality of opposition that we’ll face is going to be tremendous for us in terms of our learning and trying to test our skills against some of the best in the world, so we’re really looking forward to it.

“Having said that, I’m confident we can produce some great performances against these teams. We know what qualifying tournaments are all about, it’s going to be an absolute dogfight, and everyone is capable of beating everyone, so we can’t wait to get out there and make our mark on it.

“Having reflected on 2024 and the team’s achievements, the next step forward is really exciting for us. The training camp in Desert Springs will be good to get everyone together again, and hopefully we’ll have the chance to get acclimatised early ahead of the Qualifier. Whoever adjust to and plays the conditions the best I think will do really well – that was a big learning from the T20 World Cup, in that whoever handles the local spin and seam conditions best usually has a fair shout of being successful.

“It’s been exciting as a coach to see the development of some of our younger players in the last few weeks at the U19 World Cup. I thought they performed brilliantly, and the experience they had in handling pressure situations and alien conditions on the big stage will be invaluable. You could see after beating Nepal how confident they became, and so I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do now with that added experience and hopefully they can push on and challenge for a place in the senior squad.”

Doug Watson, Scotland Men’s Head Coach, said: “The T20 World Cup Qualifier will be hugely important, and the key thing is we’ll have played a lot of cricket leading into that competition. The guys will be fit and raring to go, and from a mentality perspective they’ll be up to speed and know what’s expected of them.

“I’ve got no doubt we’ll be up against some talented opponents, particularly Netherlands and Italy, so we’ll need to perform at our best to qualify. Qualifying for a World Cup in India is something special, and if you go there and set the world alight you never know the opportunities that might be presented in front of you for the rest  of your career. It’s a big carrot for us, and the guys won’t need motivation.

“I think we’re handily positioned in the ICC CWCL2 league table. The fixtures across our three series last year went well, although we unfortunately lost a couple of games to the weather when in a good position, but the players made a good job of what they came up against.

“The fixtures against the Netherlands will be tough, especially in their own backyard in May, so we’ll need to prepare well for them. The key in a three-year qualification campaign like this is not to worry about the end goal and focus on the process of each game.

“I think we now have 20-25 players that are good to go and can perform equally on this stage, which is great, and makes our job as selectors quite tough! It’s a unique situation for us where we often have different players available at various times of the year. We had a good trip to the USA in the autumn and it was a different group of players that played in the July series in Dundee.

“Ahead of this year’s games there’ll be discussions with the counties about who can be released and when, so there’s always challenges and different things to consider, but ultimately, it’s all about representing Scotland and gathering together a group that can represent us proudly and who are playing for the badge.”
