There was sad news earlier this week with the death of Bready player Andy Harper.

'PJ' as he was known was an extremely talented all-rounder who played with the Magheramason club for over three decades.

An extremely competitive and wholehearted cricketer, he epitomised the Bready spirit, and was influential in securing many trophies at the club.

He mostly played second XI cricket, part of a very successful side that along with Donemana were major forces at a time when cricket in the region was the strongest in Ireland.

Andy skippered the team to much of their success and was considering a return to playing this year as the club entered a fifth XI.

His death at the age of just 52 is a blow to all at the club, and the condolences of all the NW go to his family and friends.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
