Gavin Hoey will lead a 15-strong Ireland Wolves squad to Abu Dhabi next month where they will play a triangular one-day series against Afghanistan A and Sri Lanka A.

Leg-spinner Hoey, who made his full Ireland debut last year, will have fellow internationals Ross Adair, Stephen Doheny and Fionn Hand to call on, as well as a number of youngsters including the South African-born pair of Liam McCarthy and Chris DeFreitas.

“Gavin has demonstrated a good tactical cricket brain, and I have no doubt he will relish this challenge,” Andrew White, the National Selector, said.

The tour gets underway with a four-day match against Afghanistan A starting on April 7, followed by four one-day games between April 13 and 21.
