Clontarf have confirmed the signing of Nicky Kenny as their new Head Coach.
The affable Kenny is looking forward to the challenge of working at Castle Avenue.
"Being appointed Coach to Clontarf Cricket Club makes me really proud and also very excited," he told CricketEurope. "It’s a challenge I can’t wait to get started on, to continue the good work of Andrew Poynter.
"Clontarf has always been a very welcoming but competitive club anytime I’ve visited as a player or coach .Over the years I have built up many great friends here and looking forward to making more
"There is a saying ‘every day is a school day’ so I realise I have a fair bit of learning to do , as every club is different, has different traditions ,cultures and history (2026 will be Clontarf’s 150th anniversary).
"I’m confident with the help of David Delany and the team that together we can bring some silverware, in the not too distant future, back to Castle Avenue
"I’m raring to go and ready for the challenge."
Clontarf were positive about the signing of the former Merrion Coach.
"Nicky brings with him a wealth of coaching experience," said the club Twitter feed. "For the past eight years he has been Head Coach of Merrion and will take immediate charge of the Men's First and Second XI squads.
"He is involved with the Munster Reds coaching set-up. is coach of the Dublin U23 team, and has previously held roles at Leinster Cricket, St Andrew's College and Trinity College.
"Nicky replaces Andrew Poynter who recently stepped down from his role as Club Head Coach. During the last two years, he has been a great support for the younger players progressing into the First and Second XI squads, and was part of the Leinster Senior Cup winning set-up in 2023. We would like to thank Andrew for his great work."
