Newbuildings have been one of the most successful clubs in recent times and picked up the Senior Cup for the first time last year.
Much of their success in the cup was down to the runs of Samarth Seth but he won't be back this time. Instead there is the familiar sight of Peat Salmon who proved a talismanic presence in their ranks during his previous time there.
There's a new captain at the helm with Ross Hunter talking over from Gareth McKeegan, and he will have to deal with the loss of Mark Hanna who is off to Brigade, while opening bowler Trent McKeegan is in England. There's doubts too over just how much Ross Dougherty will play due to his recent surgery.
On the plus side, there are a number of youngsters itching to cement their places in the top flight and they will no doubt play a major role this season and in the years ahead.
"We have been forced to have a late change in professional as Seth from last season has had the opportunity of potentially being selected in the IPL," said Hunter. "We wish him all the best whatever happens, this has led the club to welcoming Peat Salmon once again.
"As a team we would be hoping to get a run in a cup and see where it leads us but we can't get too far ahead of ourselves. We have lost two other key players in Trent and Mark, which will give the clubs youth a lot of opportunities to shine this season."
With their formidable support, Newbuildings will certainly be a tough nut to crack, especially at home. While they may not have the depth for a league challenge, they will always be a danger in the cups, especially if Peat Salmon fires.
