RUSH
Captain: Jarred Barnes
Overseas professional: Nathan Engelbrecht
Players out: Josh Doyle (pro)
Young players to watch: Conor Butterly, Callum Armstrong
Rush enjoyed a very productive 2024 winning the Championship and National Cup with a series of impressive displays.
Their squad has a familiar feel to it with the main change being a new overseas player in South African Nathan Engelbrecht, who is left-hand top-order bat, wicket-keeper and occasional leg-break bowler.
"We have a very similar team to last year," said a club spokesperson. "The big loss will be last year's overseas pro Josh Doyle, who will remain in Adelaide for the winter.
"We are happy to announce the signing of Boland player Nathan Engelbrecht who we feel will be a great replacement and fill that gap Josh will leave. We will also see Abidullah Taniwal join this season who had a good season in the championship in 2024.
"The bowling again will be led by the old dogs Barnes and Eastwood with Jarred Barnes holding the reins as skipper again, some say punishment for a good season last year.
"We are delighted to have Nasir Totakhil return for another season and we look forward to seeing him perform in the Premiership and one to watch out for this season, he is joined by familiar faces in Abbassi, Sultan, Neary and the McGee brothers.
"Nathan McGuire will return from Melbourne next week, Nathan has had a good winter season down under and will come in match ready.
"Young players we may see get some game time this season is young bowler Conor Butterly and Callum Armstrong when he is available."
The step up will be a challenge for the Kenure club, but they have the quality, depth and experience to acquit themselves well.
