LURGAN
Captain: Stephen Johnston
Players in: Nithin Babu from Ardent Blues
Players out: Zaher Ali to Laurelvale
Overseas player: Jake Collingwood

Lurgan enjoyed an excellent campaign on their return to Section One in 2024, and almost made the top flight as they pushed eventual champions Templepatrick all the way in the promotion race.

They did collect silverware in the form of the T20 Trophy, and will be keen to bring more glory to Pollock Park.

It's been a relatively quiet close season with just one in and out - Nithin Babu joining from Ardent Blues, while Zaher Ali moves to Laurelvale.

Their overseas player is Australian all-rounder Jake Collingwood. The 18 year-old Irish passport holder is on the fringes of the Western Australian U19 side, and  is enthusiastic to come to Ireland and test himself in northern hemispehere conditions. Collingwood is a left-handed top-order bat and right-arm medium-fast bowler.

Lurgan captain Stephen Johnston is optimistic about the season ahead and is backing his side to be competitive once again.

"Lurgan are looking to build on a positive first season back in Section One," said Johnston. "It's a competitive league this year with the promoted teams again being strong coming into the league and Carrick dropping down.

"I feel anyone will be able to beat anyone on their day. All the lads are very much looking forward to a competitive match every week and build on the strong foundation from last year."

Lurgan will certainly be very much to the fore once again with their squad having a nice balance of youth and experience, and if Collingwood can hit the ground running then more trophies could well be Mid-Ulster bound.
