Ireland Wolves were comprehensively beaten by an innings and 94 runs in their first-class fixture against Afghanistan A in Abu Dhabi.
Given it was their first appearance in over a year there was little chance it would be anything else, and that soon became apparent in the first innings as the hosts piled on the runs with impunity.
The tone was set by an opening stand of 181 and with two further century stands that saw six of the top top seven pass 50 - including a top-score of 187 from Mahboob, a total of 612 for 7 saw Ireland in the field for 151 overs before the plug was mercifully pulled.
Cian Robertson didn't have to worry about 'workload management' as he whirled away for 47 overs, taking two wickets as did Liam McCarthy but none of the attack would have been in a rush to check their figures.
CSNI seamer Matthew Foster didn't appear on the field after the first day and his absence will be a concern for the Stormont club ahead of the new season.
Ireland's reply started brightly enough with an opening stand of 53 between Stephen Doheny (27) and Sam Topping (26). Indeed there was genuine hope that the game might be salvaged when Cade Carmichael and nightwatchman Tom Mayes got together in a marathon stand.
Instonians batter Cade Carmichael hit 19 fours in his 124, while Mayes made 79 as the pair added 203.
However once the stand was broken the floodgates opened and the last six wickets tumbled for 39.
Second time around Ireland surrendered meekly with Doheny and Mayes' 29 the best of a pooir batting effort as they were bundled out for 109.
Tormentor in chief Arab Gul Momand took 10 wickets in the game to get the Man-of-the-Match accolade, pipping centurion Mahboob.
Gary Wilson's side will be hoping for better fortunes when they get their 50 overs tri-series with Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A underway on Sunday.
