Scotland set a women's ODI record partnership for the eighth wicket today in Lahore, but it wasn't enough to prevent defeat against Bangladesh to put Scotland firmly on the backfoot in their quest for qualification.
Bangladesh batted first after Nigar Sultana won the toss. A 103 run second wicket partnership between Fargana Hoque and Sharmin Akhter - both scored 57 - provided the platform for acceleration in the last twenty overs from the Bangladeshi captain.
Coming in at number four after that partnership ended, Sultana hit an unbeaten 83 from only 59 balls to help take Bangladesh to a total of 276-6 from their 50 overs.
Scotland's reply was in bad shape to start with. A knock of 42 by Sarah Bryce was the sole bright spot in the first half of their reply as they collapsed to 110-7. This brought Rachel Slater out to the middle to join Priyanaz Chatterji and the pair set about trying to win the game themselves.
When Chatterji was next out 20 overs later the pair had added 115 runs, the first ever century partnership for the eighth wicket in women's ODIs. The partnership wasn't coming quickly enough though as when Chloe Abel was dismissed from the next ball - the fourth wicket for Nahida Akter - Scotland needed an unlikely 52 from the last three overs.

Number 11 Abtaha Maqsood hung on in there with Slater finishing unbeaten on 61 but at 242-9 Scotland were well short of their target and lost by 34 runs.
Scotland play their last match on Friday when they take on Ireland. They aren't quite out of the running for qualification yet though as a win over Ireland along with having other results and the net run rate calculations go in their favour could see them qualify.
