Templepatrick are ready 'to give it a go" in their first ever season in the Premier League. Promoted as champions after 10 years in Section One the Ballyclare-based club are excited for what they describe as their next challenge.

They will have the most experienced overseas professional in the league with the signing of Sandun Weerakkody, a 31 Sri Lankan all-rounder with 128 List A games under his belt and 13 first class centuries in almost 100 matches. He is joined at the other end of the experience scale by 19 year old Charles Swart, an Irish Passport holder from Johannesburg who played a few games for Carrickfergus II last season.

Looking ahead to their historic season, a spokesman said: "We are under no illusions about what faces us, up against so many top clubs, but we are looking at it as our next challenge, having gone from the bottom of Section One to the top in 10 years.

"We have worked hard to get to this point and with coaching the foundation of our club we are proud to say that last year 11 of the 15 players used came through our youth system."

They are all back for more this season and looking forward to competing with 'the big boys". Their first match is at Muckamore with All-Ireland T20 champions Lisburn the first visitors to The Cloughan on May 3.
