LORCAN TUCKER and Harry Tector scored centuries on the first day of the InterPro season as Leinster Lightning got their 50-overs campaign underway with a 48-run victory over the Munster Reds at Oak Hill in Co Wicklow.

The two senior ireland internationals added 212 for Lightning’s third wicket, with Tucker hitting five sixes in his 121, while Tector clearing the ropes three times making 120 from only 107 balls.

The Reds started brightly in response to the home side’s 328-8 as opener Stephen Doheny posted a rapid half-century but the chase stalled and Phil le Roux was left stranded on 87 not out when last man Byron McDonough was run out.

Meanwhile, Ireland skipper Andy Balbirnie made 91 on debut for the North-West Warriors, and fellow opener Sam Topping hit 120, but the Northern Knights eased past the visitors’ 283-5 with four wickets and 23 balls to spare at Stormont in Belfast.
