DOMINANT DONEMANA HUNGRY FOR MORE SUCCESS

It’s been a strong start to the season for Donemana, whose all-round depth was to the fore as they recorded back-to-back wins over Newbuildings at the weekend, the second of which secured the first silverware of the season, the Derry Midweek League Charity Cup.

While they won the league last season, they fell at the final hurdle in the Senior Cup decider, and begin their quest to go one better with a short trip down the Ballyheather Road to face Killyclooney.

While it may look a one-sided match on paper, Killyclooney could well draw inspiration from their performance last year when they gave their illustrious neighbours a bloody nose. Donemana captain Gary McClintock won’t be taking anything for granted.

“We have enjoyed a great start to the season with two hard games to begin with in the league. We couldn’t have hoped for better getting two victories.

“Everyone seems to be in good nick with bat and ball and our professional Anuj Jotin has settled in brilliantly and looks to be a very good player.

“As regards to the cup this weekend, we are going to take nothing for granted, especially after what happened last year against Killyclooney in the league. We know we go there as favourites but we still have to perform on the day to make sure we progress to the next round.”
