Defending champions the Dragons made it two wins from two as they chased down 176 to beat the Scorchers by seven wickets with an over to spare in the T20 Trophy at Bready.

Gaby Lewis hit 12 fours and a six in a 43-ball 71, adding 91 in ten overs for the second wicket with Eimear Richardson (32).

Their total of 175 for six was given a late impetus injection from Sophie MacMahon, who thumped four boundaries and two maximums in a 13-ball 33. Alana Dalzell and Ella Marsh each collected two wickets.

Bella Armstrong (23) added 49 for the opening wicket with the prolific Amy Hunter, but it was the second wicket partnership of 102 in ten overs between the Belfast 19-year-old and fellow international Orla Prendergast that was the match-defining one.

Hunter top-scored with a 44-ball 64 that included nine boundaries - five of them consecutively off Louise Little in an over that changed the complexion of the game.

Prendergast also hit nine fours in a 34-ball 53, before both fell in quick succession.

26 were needed off 21 balls when Abbi Harrison (12*) was joined by Arlene Kelly (10*), with the pair ensuring victory with six balls to spare.

The 'Festivals' continue on Sunday at Railway Union when the Dragons will look to keep a grip on the lead in their quest for a double.
