ICC Men's Challenge League A continued today in Jersey with the gulf teams of Kuwait and Qatar recording wins over Papua New Guinea and Kenya respectively.

Papua New Guinea were put into bat by Kuwait captain Mohammed Aslam at Farmers Field and a knock of 83 by Sese Bau looked to have provided them with a good platform. But Bau's dismissal sparked a collapse from 109-3 to 131-9 as some hapless batting made Kuwait's bowlers look like world beaters.

The last wicket pairing of Kabua Morea and John Kariko offered a little resistance before PNG were bowled out for 148, with three of Kuwait's bowlers taking three wickets.

Early in Kuwait's reply they went from 26-0 to 29-3 in the space of eight deliveries, but got back into the game with a 34 run partnership for the fourth wicket between Ravija Sandaruwan and Mohammed Aslam.

The partnership ended when Sandaruwan was dismissed for 32, with another 34 run partnership coming between Aslam and Mohammad Amin. Amin and Usman Patel fell in successive balls to start the 15th over before Aslam and Shiraz Khan secured the four wicket win after an unbroken 52 run partnership. Aslam finished unbeaten on 55.

Over at Grainville, the ground was playing host to an event put on for the surprsingly large Kenyan community on the island, which is some 600 strong. Kenya were batting first after winning the toss against Qatar with Dhiren Gondaria (42) providing the early going.

At 120-6 it was looking like Kenya's innings was going to go similarly to that of Papua New Guinea at the other ground, but a 69 run partnership for the seventh wicket between Rakep Patel and Francis Mutua - making his List A debut - kept them in the game.

That partnership ended when Patel was bowled for 52 but Mutua kept on scoring, finishing unbeaten on 61 from 52 balls and sharing in what for Qatar was a frustrating 37 run ubroken ninth wicket partnership.

Qatar lost Mujeeb-ur-Rehman to a golden duck early in their reply but a 165 run partnership between Imal Liyanage and Shakkir Kassim began to quiet the noisy Kenyan spectators.

Kassim was the second man out, having scored 83, whilst Liyanage finished the innings unbeaten on 107 as he helped his team secure an eight wicket win with 6.3 overs to spare.

Just one game will take place tomorrow with hosts Jersey playing Denmark at Grainville ahead of Tuesday's rest day.
