INSTONIANS will look to cap a superb season by winning their first All-Ireland title when they take on Cork County at Stormont tomorrow.

The Shaw’s Bridge side have already captured the NCU T20 Cup and Premiership, and are clear favourites to complete a treble against the Munster side.

Cade Carmichael has played a leading role in that success, passing the 1000-run milestone, and the Irish international is relishing the opportunity to win more silverware.

“It would be incredible for the club to win the All-Ireland T20,“ said Carmichael.

“I don’t think anyone would have thought we would be in that position. It would be great for Instonians to win a first All-Ireland - it’s always nice to have a chance to make history. Everyone’s really excited and it’s sure to be a great day at Stormont.”

Instonians have played a dynamic brand of cricket and Carmichael says they’ll be looking to maintain that winning formula.

“We won’t be changing our approach just because it’s a final. We will stick to what’s worked for us in T20 cricket this year.

“We do have a very long batting order and that lets everyone express themselves knowing there are still people in the sheds that can contribute. That really takes the pressure off and allows you to play with complete freedom.

“It hasn’t always come off but we’ve won two trophies and hopefully a third.

“Being close to home for the game is definitely a factor in the game as I don’t think we would have been keen going all the way down to Cork, so I guess they’ll feel the same about travelling to Belfast. It allows us to go through our normal routine on game day without having to travel.”

It’s been an incredible season for the 23-year-old, who not only tops the runs charts but also won his first Ireland cap.

“It was a very good year for me batting wise, no doubt helped by going away pre-season with Ireland Wolves.

“I was really helped by that preparation and hit the ground running and never looked back. That time in the UAE really helped me with my confidence. I didn’t change anything technically. I tried to keep everything simple going back to what’s worked for me.”

Carmichael is hoping that Sunday isn’t his last cricket of the year, keen to add to his international experience.

“I would love to be involved in the Test squad that’s going to Bangladesh and that’s what I’ll be working hard towards over the next few months.”
