Mark Roulston produced a Man-of-the-Match display as Burndennett pipped Bready to win the League Three Final.

The experienced all-rounder top-scored with 70 (6 fours, 3 sixes) as Burndennett posted 153 for 6 in their first innings.

He added 83 for the third wicket with skipper Ben Logue (29), while there were two wickets for Mo Saghir.

With uncertain weather forecast for Saturday, both sides knew that the first innings score would determine who lifted the cup in the event the match didn't get completed.

Jamie McCombe (34) and Marc Fleming (23) looked to be leading Bready to a first innings advantage, but three wickets for Adrian Moore and two for Rian McGettigan swung the game back towards Burndennett at 101 for 6.

Craig Allen (38*) and Alana Dalzell (12) edged Bready towards the target but Dalzell was stumped off Mark Rouslton and despite Allen's best efforts the hosts finished on 152 for 7 - one short.

The sides attempted to finish the game on Friday with Burdennett making 130 for 9 in the second innings - Roulston (43*) again their top scorer.

Eoghan Reynolds (4-15) the pick of the Bready attack, while Mo Saghir again took two wickets.

There was a dramatic start to Bready's second innings with Rian McGettigan striking twice in the first over on his way to 3-29.

The game was intriguingly poised at 44 for 3 in 9 overs when bad light stopped play on Friday night, and despite the best efforts of the groundstaff no play was possible on the Saturday.

A shame to what could have been a real thriller between two evenly matched sides.

Bready had the consolation of picking up the League trophy, while Burndennett got the Cup by virtue of their one-run first innings advantage.

The barest of margins and all that...
